Intensive Fishing Effort and Market Controls as Management Tools for Invasive Aquatic Species: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Invasive aquatic species may disrupt ecosystems and cause socioeconomic damage. Biosecurity protocols were developed to prevent transport unintended introductions of invasive species, but less attention has been paid management once they become established. The use classical fisheries stock assessment determine levels at which selectively targeted elicit recruitment overfishing is discussed. Case studies several organisms, including lionfish Pterois spp. two mytilids three crayfish, Faxonius rusticus (Girard, 1852), are discussed as examples. Fecundity measured by egg production rate (EPR) a key factor determining how the various react fishing pressure. Ecosystem modelling predatorprey relations between indigenous suggests that restricting effort on predators prey be effective in managing lieu directly increasing itself. Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas, 1771) Mytella strigata (Hanley, 1843) not effectively controlled intensive due high EPR values. However, crayfish brood offspring exhibit much lower values ideal candidates for setting targets promote overfishing. Recommendations include: collecting data population dynamics species; assessing predator populations; developing target understand human dimensions impacts inform subsequent policy development.

A management framework for preventing the secondary spread of aquatic invasive species
Biological invasions continue to accelerate, and there is a need for closer integration between invasive species research and on-the-ground management. In many regions, aquatic invasive species have established isolated populations, but have not yet spread to many sites that provide suitable habitat. In the Laurentian Great Lakes region, several Great Lakes invaders such as zebra mussel (Dreiss...

Ecosystem managers face a difficult decision when managing invasive species. If they use aggressive practices to reduce invader abundances, they will likely reduce invaders' competitive impacts on natives. But it is often difficult or impossible to reduce invaders without damaging natives. So a critical question becomes: Which is worse for native biota, invaders or things done to control invade...

This study is a theoretical approach to different care and management measuring tools used to determine the severity of patients' illnesses, to quantify patients' care demands, and to estimate the actual need for Nursing professionals and the costs of intensive care, which makes them management facilitators. This article presents several measuring tools that are focused on the classification of...
متن کاملDeriving efficient frontiers for effort allocation in the management of invasive species
Invasive species cause significant losses through their effect on agriculture, human health and the environment. Their importance has increased with time due to globalisation, as the spread of invasive species is facilitated by the increased movement of people, cargo and genetic material around the world. There is a vast literature on the economics of invasive species and their management. Here...
